Evangelism Quotes

Every sinner must either be pardoned or punished.

"If the average church should suddenly take seriously the notion that every lay member, man or woman, is really a minister of Christ, we could have something like a revolution in a very short time." Elton Trueblood

"A revolution in the church will be realized only if non-clergy are willing to move up, if clergy are willing to move over, and if all of God's people are willing to move out." Thomas Gillespie

The United States is now the third largest mission field in the world. Only India and China have more nonbelievers. (Mission America Monthly)

Church historian Martin Marty says that one word defines the difference between churches that grow and churches that don't: INVITE! (Herb Miller, "How to Build a Magnetic Church")

We were not converted to be introverted.

People are far more ready to receive the Gospel that most Christians are to give it.

To the world you might be one person, but to one person you might be the world.

The law of any church is, and always will be: evangelize or fossilize.

Man's way leads to a hopeless end. God's way leads to an endless hope.

One day a lady criticized D.L. Moody for his methods of evangelism in attempting tow in people to the Lord.  Moody's reply was, 'I agree with you. I don't like the way I do it either. Tell me, how do you do it?' The lady replied, 'I don't do it.' Moody retorted, 'Then I like my way of doing it better than your way of not doing it.'

St. Francis of Assisi said, "Witness for Christ each day of your life and if necessary, use words."

The need of the hour is not so much to discuss the Bread of Life as to break it and pass it out to the hungry multitude.

“The clock of life is wound but once, and no man has the power to tell just when the hands will stop, at late or early hour. To lose one's wealth is sad indeed, to lose one's health is more. To lost one's soul is such a loss that no man can restore.”
Thirty-nine people died while you read this short poem.  Every hour 5,417 go to meet their Maker. What are YOU doing to help reach them with the gospel before they are cast into hell?

In September of 1985 a party was held at one of the largest city pools in New Orleans. The reason for this festive occasion was due to the fact that the summer of 1985 was the first summer in years that a drowning did not occur at a New Orleans city pool. The summer was now officially over, and two hundred guests were at the celebration, including over one hundred certified lifeguards. It was a great party! All were thrilled at the accomplishment of the summer. It wasn't until the party was over that they noticed the fully clothed man at the bottom of the pool near the drain. They attempted to revive him, but it was too late. The man had drowned, surrounded by lifeguards who were celebrating their success.

A man fell into a pit and could not get out. A subjective person came along and said, 'I feel for you down there.' An objective person came along and said, 'It's logical that someone would fall down there.' A Pharisee said, 'Only bad people fall into a pit.'  A mathematician calculated how he fell into the pit.  A news reporter wanted the exclusive story on his experience. A fundamentalist said, 'You deserve your pit.' An IRS man asked if he was paying taxes on the pit. A self-pitying person said, 'You haven't seen anything until you've seen my pit!' A Christian Scientist said, 'You just think you're in a pit...it's all in your mind.'  An optimist said, 'Things could be worse.' A pessimist said, 'Things will get worse.' Jesus seeing the man, took him by the hand and lifted him out of the pit.

Longfellow wrote, 'The vine still clings to the moldering wall, but at every gust the dead leaves fall.'  Like that vine, many churches today cling to the crumbling wall of traditional programs, losing members like dead leaves carried away by the biting winds of our times. To put it another way: We refuse to leave our comfort zones. We like to stick to the familiar, the predictable, the usual.

Top Ten Reasons for Not Bathing: 10) When I was a child my parents made me bathe. 9)  There are so many different kinds of soap that I don't know which one is the best. 8)  I used to bathe, but it was so boring I quit. 7)  None of my friends bathe. 6)  I am still young.  When I start getting dirty I might consider bathing. 5)  I do bathe occasionally, like at Christmas or funerals. 4)  Bathing takes time away from my family. 3)  Hot water is not always available. 2)  People who bathe are hypocrites and think they are cleaner than the rest of us. 1)  Soap makers are in it just to make money.

There is a dangerous disease spreading among Christians today.  It is called 'Backyardism.'  Its symptoms include preoccupation with personal pursuits and ignorance and indifference about how God is working around the world.  The result is a stunted prayer life.  The antidote is found in 1 Tim 2:1-2: 'I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; for kings, and for all that are in authority.'  The cure for nearsighted vision is farsighted prayer.  You can become a world-conscious Christian in your vision and prayers.

Barbara Bush said, “Success doesn't depend on what happens at the White House, but what happens at Your house.”

Two of the greatest hindrances to witnessing are a cold heart and cold feet.

When sharing your faith with others don't forget the importance of the big picture. Share the main points of the Gospel first and then bring in some of the details.  You don't show someone a street map of Paris without first telling them how to get to France.

The last thing the devil wants you to do is to win a soul to Christ.  If you don't believe it, try it.  The devil will let you go to prayer meeting, he will let you talk religious subjects and do `many mighty deeds' if only you will stop short of persuading others to accept Christ as Savior and openly confess Him before men.

Evangelism is one beggar telling another beggar where to find bread.

A great way to look at Luke 19:5. "And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for today I must abide at thy house. 1) "He looked up" -- Zacchaeus said, "He sees me." 2) "He said unto him, Zacchaeus" -- Zacchaeus said, "He knows me." 3) "Come down for today I must abide at thy house." -- Zacchaeus said, "He wants me."
